Baby Lauren

Wife to husband, Rancito, of 4 years. Mother of one-year old daughter, Lauren, two mini wiener dogs that I refer to as Farkota, and one big mutt named Champ. This is my way of telling Lauren I have loved her since the day I saw her tiny bean body on the ultrasound screen.

To Lauren, on Her 9 Month Birthday

My dearest, precious little girl, you are nine months old today. On each of your monthly birthdays, I take a picture of you so that I can see how much you've grown. Today I cannot take a picture of you, and my heart is filled with sadness because the tradition has been broken. We had to ship you off to Grandma and Grandpa's again because the daycare lady needed to go to the doctor. PARTY TIME! Your piece of cake got cold, so I had to eat it. Sorry about that.

I can't believe that it's been less than a month since the whole debacle went down. I'm so sorry it had to end so tragically, sweetheart. But Mommy picked herself up and learned that trust is something you must work to keep. She also learned that she has a wonderful support network of friends and family in both the physical and blog world. It's been a long bumpy ride, but I can see smooth sailing ahead.

This is the month that Mommy decided she had to do something about her weight or head to an early grave. I've had lots of headaches and a weird rash on my arm, but I've lost a lot more weight so far than I was expecting. I know I'm on the right track and I've got you as my motivation.

Your new nephew, Caden Grin, arrived last month. He is as adorable as can be, even though I think you experienced a little streak of jealousy as Mommy held him. That's okay, though. You'll come to love your new cousin very much. And I couldn't be happier for the new parents.

"That had better not be my new brother!

Daddy and I took you to the park for the first time. You had a blast swinging in the "thrice" swing, playing on the monkey bars, and watching children run in and out of the playground equipment. Some of my favorite pictures of you were taken on that short trip.

To my delight, you started dancing a few weeks ago. Now you dance to every song played by your toys with a little "no" head shake thrown in for flavor. Little one, we will spend many nights dancing around the house, so get ready!

I am so proud that you've learned to share so early in life. Although you are more likely to share with a pack of wolves than your Mommy, it's still sharing nonetheless. Next on the list to do is learning to give Farley ample time to play with HIS own toys as well as giving Dakota her fair share of time at the dogfood bowl. One day at a time, my dear.

And finally, mommy is so proud of your new skill of placing the Peek-a-blocks inside the giraffe's noggin. You amaze me each and every day.

Some of your favorite things this past month including biting, a jack-in-the-box, Peek-a-block train and giraffe, remotes, and using everything to pull yourself up to stand. You had real watermelon and catelope for the first time. Although, I think that the catelope is what caused you to have four poopy diapers yesterday. We might hold off until you're potty trained to try that one again.

I love you sweetie, and I'm missing you very much.
