Where you sleep...
#1 Your Bed

I figured since this is technically Lauren's blog, I should definitely include pictures of both our sleeping domains. On the left you'll see my bed and new summertime comforter. Makes me think I'm in Hawaii when I go to bed. If only "in Hawaii" meant on land and not in the water.
Our summer quilt used to be a quilt my grandmother sewed. It's neon green, hot pink and orange, crafted from her old polyester pant suits. I love that quilt.
Lauren's crib is on the right. It's a $60 purchase from a church friend that also included the Ocean Wonders aquarium. I am cheap, get used to it. My mother sewed the denim skirt and bumper pad that I have since removed because I am a good mommy. This post had a little snippet of the bumper pad.
UPDATE: Forgot to mention the story behind the bed. In Dec. 2001, Rance and I headed out to our local overpriced furniture store and picked out the bed you see above, Retail: $1,200. The bed was on backorder, and I ended up cancelling our order about a month later. My sixth sense must have been working because I was laid off two months later. We still needed a bed frame, so I headed back to the same store and hit the as-is room. Lo and behold, here was the same bed I wanted sans a few pieces of trim. I walked out having spent only $450 on it. BOO YAH!
#2 Your Dresser (or drawers)

Our dresser on the left isn't spectacular, other than the fact it used to belong to my parents and I've used it since I was about 12. I love it. It's real wood. My dad says it's a piece of junk, probably because he's seen it every time I moved in college, which was about 400 times.
Lauren's dresser is on the right. My BIL and SIL have the same one for our nephew, Matthew, and I really liked it. It's probably the most expensive thing in her room and it barely cracked $100.
#3 Your favorite Jammies

It's hard to pick a favorite pair of PJ's for Lauren since her clothing rotates every 3 months, but we did just receive Lauren's new Holey Shirt merchandise. It served as her PJ's last night and will most likely serve as PJ's very often in the future. My house tent PJ's are the lovely number holding Lauren's attention. I bought the t-shirt nightie when I was huge and pregnant for $5 at Kohl's. I still wear it because it's comfortable and Rance likes to monkey around. That was a joke. This weekend I brought Lauren in the bedroom to help wake up daddy. She hung out and took a liking to the monkey my PJ's. She would "ET phone home" push the monkey's nose or tail. I think she was expecting the monkey to light up and play a song, but the most she got was Momma passing a little gas. |
