| I Love Little Baby Ducks |
Since day one, we've been singing out hearts out to little Miss Lauren, mostly to calm her to sleep. Rancito's favorite song to sing is "I Love" by Tom T. Hall. Most people probably have no clue as to the identity of Mr. Hall or his goofy little diddy called, "I Love." That's because Tom released this song in about 1950. Yes, my husband is an old country fan and will be until the day he dies.
Here's the first verse as it was orginally sung: I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain
Here's the verse as Lauren has heard it over and over again since birth: I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and LAUREN!
Rancito is quite the original songwriter. He gets it from his dad, who has made up an orginal song for each of his six grandchildren. As I'm in here typing, I can hear Rance singing to Lauren a song he made up when she was probably a month old.
Lauren, Lauren Marie She's so pretty Just like her mom - mee.
Cute huh? Yeah, I doubt that one's going to top the charts any time soon.
Rancito is a procrastinator like 99% of men, so he took Lauren shopping for my Valentine's Day gift, on Valentine's day. He bought every thing that Lauren seemed to like in the Hallmark store, so my gift was a large bear with chocolate. She got a Boyd's Bear. Me thinks someone's present cost more than mine... Anyhow, when Rancito and Lauren came home, he announced that Lauren had made up a song for me while they were out shopping. It goes like this:
Momma, I love you Momma, I need you Momma, you're the only one for Daddy Besides me.
I love that man, procrastination and all. |
