| Is There a Doctor in the House? |
Lauren woke up at about 5:30 am this morning, moaning and crying in a sleep stupor. I tried to comfort her back into la-la land for another hour or so, but she wouldn't have it. Normally when I pluck her out of the crib in the morning, the first thing she does is smile a big toofy (or twofy?) grin. The first thing she did this morning after she looked at me was give a sorrowful cry and a couple of congested mucous-filled coughs. My baby was sick, very sick. Rance and I tried and tried to blame it on teething. Oh Lord, let it be the teething!
We made an afternoon doctor's appointment, but I had to leave to come back and blog...er, I mean eat before class tonight. The prognosis was a bummer: ear infections in BOTH ears this time and more breathing treatments. The doc asked if asthma runs in the family, which it doesn't, but the fact that the doctor asked is still not a good sign.
We're going to have to give Lauren breathing treatments more regularly all summer long. I wonder if they've got a battery pack nebulizer so we can do treatments on the run. I was planning an action packed summer of white water rafting, parasailing, bungee jumping, and parachuting out of a plane. Obviously, I don't want Lauren to miss out on the adrenaline spiked side of life.
We'll deal with it as all parents must do when life throws stop sticks in their path. We're troopers. We'll make it. |
