Baby Lauren

Wife to husband, Rancito, of 4 years. Mother of one-year old daughter, Lauren, two mini wiener dogs that I refer to as Farkota, and one big mutt named Champ. This is my way of telling Lauren I have loved her since the day I saw her tiny bean body on the ultrasound screen.

Stuff Portrait Friday!
To tell you the truth, I had nothing for this one until about 10:30 last night. I've blogged about my paintings before, so maybe this is just old hat. But, I remembered I had a picture from awhile back that got me in the mood. So, here we go!

1. Something you made/built yourself

This was taken on Thanksgiving in 2003. I painted these pots as Christmas gifts for the ladies in my church group. I picked out scripture or quotes that related to each one as an individual or what they were going through at the time. I was so proud.

I'm also proud of the way I don't look so top heavy in this picture. Although, one might say that it looks like the boulder twins did a 180 to my back.

2. Tools of your hobby

My goodness, I've racked up a lot of painting supplies in three years time. I have three easels, tons of books, a foam plate holder, and brush bin, tablecloths, various canvases, two thousand brushes, and ten thousand acrylic paints. That triangle shaped thing is an apron I sewed myself. It's hanging off of an easel. The topiary and bench are early works from my first year of painting.

3. Something you want to get rid of

This photo has many, many notes.

Sweet mother of potatoes, I have a ton of crap! This is my formal dining room that I have never dined in. In fact, I'd like to make it Lauren's playroom. However, babies produces a lot of crap because most toys and clothing have a useful life of about three days. Then you have to put them up.

Since we'd like to have another child one day in the not so near future, I get to keep all of these lovely things, in a house built by somebody who believes that storage is the devil's work. I would love to just get rid of it, but I can't bear the thought of having to refinance a small country just to repurchase everything again.

The good news is that Rancito has set aside about 300 sq. ft. of my very own storage space in his shop. He's working on the room slowly but surely, so all of this stuff will (hopefully) be gone by the time we party down for Lauren's birthday. And if it's not, the guests under six years of age will have one heck of an obstacle course to play on.
