Baby Lauren

Wife to husband, Rancito, of 4 years. Mother of one-year old daughter, Lauren, two mini wiener dogs that I refer to as Farkota, and one big mutt named Champ. This is my way of telling Lauren I have loved her since the day I saw her tiny bean body on the ultrasound screen.

stuff portrait friday - that's how I see it
I'm back! I haven't played in ages, mostly because I haven't felt inspired to pick up my camera. It's not an SPF thing, it's just a result of being busy with Lauren and really enjoying not having to swat her chubby fingers away from the lens and/or lens cap.

But this, THIS ONE I CAN DO!

1. The best picture you have ever taken of something/someone
LittleSwimmer

I love this one of Lauren, and the focal color effect I made using Picasa. I mean, how often does a person capture such a small child looking like the grown-up they will become?

PICT0197

Okay, so this is was a hard one. I ran across this picture of my grandmother, and it makes me feel so good. I spent forever painting her that picture for our reunion in Kansas City a few years ago. You can see how proud she was by the expression on her face. I love my grandma very much, and I hope I get to see her again soon. If only North Dakota wasn't halfway around the globe.

2. The best picture of yourself & why you think it is.

What, you don't think it's very flattering? Look at that creamy blemish free skin! Sans make-up! The whites of my eyes are white, no sign of bloodshot anywhere. And my hair is shiny enough to be in a shampoo ad.

Okay, fine. I really like this one, too. No explanation necessary. However, I do prefer my non-tanned, non-orange complexion above.

3. A favorite picture that someone else took/painted/doodled
girls in hats

This is "Gils in Hats" by Carlos Rios. I have a cheapo print of it in my bathroom. There is something so calming, so familiar about it. When my print started to separate from its backing due to the moisture in the bathroom, I was devastated. I eventually found another copy, but I ended up fixing my own with some good old Elmer's glue.

Sometimes I imagine that it's Lauren and myself taking a stroll through our overgrown garden. It always brings a smile to my face - because I'm thin in the picture.
