Baby Lauren

Wife to husband, Rancito, of 4 years. Mother of one-year old daughter, Lauren, two mini wiener dogs that I refer to as Farkota, and one big mutt named Champ. This is my way of telling Lauren I have loved her since the day I saw her tiny bean body on the ultrasound screen.

9 To 5 Nutrition
Cousin Mark, Grandma, and me at the IHOP in Belton, MO
I had chocolate frosting for breakfast this morning. I baked cupcakes last night for my boss’s birthday today. He’s 34. I’m the only person in the office that’s younger than him. Everyone else has about 30 years on him. It’s an odd work environment I work in. Eh, Sonny?

I’m trying to figure out the best time to pencil in a vacation to my grandparents in North Dakota. The vacation is actually my birthday present. I mean, what 27 year-old woman doesn’t wish for a 16 hour trip to God-forsaken country spent counting corn stalks, farmsteads, and white lines on her birthday? I called my Dad this morning to see if he wanted to go since they are his parents after all. He thought about it for a few seconds and told me to ask him again a week in advance of when we’re planning to go. I think it hit him that if he hitched a ride with us that he’d be listening to Lauren cry for about 10 out of those 16 hours. Maybe he thinks I’ll forget to ask him again. Fat chance. This is a man who has two kids and never changed a diaper in his life. I owe it to Mom to make up for some of the duties she had to shoulder by herself.

So, I’m thinking the 4th of July holiday week will be the best since our babysitter will be off in Branson or Vegas doing her thing. North Dakota summers are so beautiful. By that time I’ll probably be dying to leave the 100% humidity associated with hot Oklahoma summers. North Dakota, here we come!
