| Stand Up and Shout! |
Today was a monumental day for Lauren. Granted, it happened when I wasn't looking, but it was monumental nonetheless. I arrived at the HDL's and quickly washed my hands since I just spent today's paycheck filling up my gas tank. The children were happily eating their hamburger helper and they all started chanting Lauren's name. "Lau-ren! Lau-ren! Lau-ren!" It was like a scene out of a Rocky movie made for kids where Barney was Rocky and Captain Kangaroo was Mickey the trainer. Snow White played Adrien. What the heck was I just talking about? Oh yes, the children were chanting Lauren's name. I peeked around the corner and there she was, holding on to the step between the baby room and the kitchen. She had her butt sticking straight out so that her body was almost in an "L," but she had pulled herself up into a stand regardless. And I missed it. Yay mom.
I knew last night that she would be able to pull herself up before the weekend was up. She was trying so hard to pull herself up onto her toys, baskets, and the couch. Unfortunately, she hadn't figured out it was almost impossible to do while you're sitting down, legs spread eagle, and reaching up for something directly above her. Even grown ups can't do that, sweetie. The closest she did get was kind of a "praying" or "football" pose. She had one foot on the floor with knee bent, while the other knee was on the ground. She was pretty pissed by the time she reached that position, that I had to physically pick her up and sit her back down to play with her toys.
Lauren also started crawling again today. I never really did see the "official" crawl, I'd say she's been doing more "creeping" since that day than anything. But today I brought her home and she crawled, one knee in front of the other. It made me so very proud.
We laughed and played this afternoon. She tried to pull herself up on the couch and dug those two little razor buds called teeth into the leather. It's okay, we've got a warranty. We also played a rousing game of peek-a-boo. She loves this game so much, but I think it's the sound of my voice instead of the hide-appear cognition that she really likes. That's okay, we'll get there soon. I love you sweetie pie, sweet slobbery delicious formula and applesauce-filled dreams.
She loves this balloon. It's almost dead now. I'm going to have to have another birthday party, I guess. |
