| When Pigs Fly |

It's been a rough couple o' days. Ever stick your foot in your mouth over and over again, yet still don't learn to zip it? Crayonz: Your mother's intuition is on the blink. Please send in for repair immediately or else mouth will catch athlete's foot. Ok, gross. Sorry. For the record, Crayonz does not have the aforementioned foot fungus affliction. Google that.
Lauren wasn't quite over the hump on Tuesday. I thought she was in the clear when I last posted. She was playing and smiling a little bit and the fever seemed under control. That was the case until...duh, duh, dunt...bedtime. She thrashed and moaned and at 11 pm, I decided it was time for Lauren and I to hop in bed. She loves our bed. It calms babies with colic, acid reflux, and lazy eye. It's a miracle worker. But on Tuesday night it failed me. It became Loch Ness.
Daddy ended up sleeping on the living room floor because his back was hurting. I was alone in my quest. Lauren writhed and moaned in pain as I clutched her tight in my arms. Believe me, I'm here to tell you that the aforementioned monster does exist, and her name is Lauren Loch Ness. LLN and I drifted out of not-quite-dreamy-land sleep until about 3:00 am when I felt the scorching heat from Lauren's body against my skin. I was lying in the Loch Ness lake of baby drool. Half of my nightshirt was drenched from Baby Loch Ness breathing through her mouth because her nose was still stuffed with Slimer boogies. We got up and took her temperature (100.5), and had a lukewarm bath and some Tylenol. Lauren seemed to calm down enough to sleep a little, but by the time 6:00 am came around, I was a walking Loch Ness zombie.
I received a call at work from the daycare lady around 1:00pm. Lauren was fussy and clingy all day and just woke up from her nap with a 103.7 degree fever. Then she vomited, everywhere. She said Lauren seemed to feel better after the upchuck, and HDL was kind of enjoying Lauren's cuddling, a.k.a clinginess. She said she'd give Lauren some Tylenol and that she could stay until I got there. Remind me to empty my bank accounts and give all of my money to that kind, selfless woman.
When I arrived (in record time!), Lauren was feeling much better. She was still a little fussy last night, but she went down at 10 pm and slept all evening. And today Lauren was her normal self again. We went to Fuddruckers tonight, and Lauren chowed on some bread, chicken, and baked potato. When the Steve Miller Band song, "Rock'n Me," came on the overhead speakers, she started to do a little sitting high chair dance to the music. You know the song, sing it with me now...
I went from Phoenix, Arizona All the way to Tacoma Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A. Northern California where the girls are warm So I could be with my sweet baby, yeah
Keep on a rock'n me baby Keep on a rock'n me baby
Yeah I know, a baby rocking out to that tune in a franchise restaurant is beyond adorable. And she's all mine!
So, DARE I SAY IT, I think Lauren Loch Ness is finally getting better. I, however, am in dire need of some hibernation. Y'all rock for the comments you've left us. Lauren says, "Bah buh dah." This translates to, "I love you all for taking the time to care" or "Keep on a rock'n me baby." I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure it meant the former. Nighty, night.
P.S. Auntie Karen, thank you so much for Lauren's new fleece hat and flying pig hooded towel. I'm a bad niece for not thanking you sooner, but well, things have been a little crazy around here. We love the gifts. Thank you. |
